THE AREA Nairn (3 miles away) is a popular holiday town with clean sandy beaches, 2 golf courses, swimming pool, tennis courts and bowling green. Inverness (15 miles away) has a bustling shopping area and is the capital of the Highlands. |
Newton of Park Farm is close to the historic site of the Battle of Auldearn which took place in 1645 between the Covenanters and the Royalist army of the Marquis of Montrose. (Click here for zoomable map)
Also close by is the Boath Doocot (now cared for by the National Trust) which is an interesting 17th century building with conical roof. It is built on the site of an ancient castle called Old Eren (from which Auldearn gets its name).

There's much to see and do in this area.
Choose from castles, distilleries, standing stones, picturesque harbours, woodland walks, cycle routes, golf and boat trips. Within a few miles' drive you can visit Brodie Castle (pictured below right), Cawdor Castle (pictured top right), Culloden Battlefield and Fort George. Other day trips can include Loch Ness & Urquhart Castle (pictured left), the Cairngorm mountains, the west coast or the far north. You definitely won't be short of things to do! |
